Als einfaches Bespiel soll das '''Zweikörperproblem''' besprochen werden. Leider sind hier keine Zwangsbedingungen gegeben das heißt es gibt S=2*3-0=6 Freiheitsgrade. Anstatt den kanonischen Isomorphismus zwischen dem Newtonschen Raum und dem Konfigurationsraum zu verwenden, empfiehlt sich hier die Aufteilung in Schwerpunkt und Relativkoordinaten. Die Gesamtmasse ist die Summe aus den beiden Einzelmassen. :<math>M={{m}_{1}}+{{m}_{2}}</math> (4.1) Der Schwerpunkt, die Gewichtung der Gesamtmassen Berechnet sich über die Formel: :<math>\mathbf{R}=\frac{1}{M}\left( \sum\limits_{i=1}^{2}{{{m}_{i}}{{\mathbf{r}}_{i}}} \right)</math> (4.2) Klein r ist der Abstand der beiden Teilchen, also die Relativkoordinate. :<math>\mathbf{r}={{\mathbf{r}}_{1}}-{{\mathbf{r}}_{2}}</math> (4.3) Aus Gründen, die später klar werden, beschreiben r in Kugelkoordinaten. :<math>\mathbf{r}=r\left( \begin{matrix} \sin \vartheta \cos \varphi \\ \sin \vartheta \sin \varphi \\ \cos \vartheta \\ \end{matrix} \right)</math> (4.4) Die verallgemeinerten Koordinaten q sind damit durch 3 Komponenten aus der Schwerpunktsbewegung und die 3 Komponenten der Kugelkoordinaten der Schwerpunktbewegung festgelegt. <math>q=\left( {{R}_{1}},{{R}_{2}},{{R}_{3}},r,\vartheta ,\varphi \right)</math> Der Begriff der reduzierten Masse µ liegt auf der Hand, wenn man die Bewegung mit Relativkoordinaten beschreiben will. :<math>\mu =\frac{{{m}_{1}}{{m}_{2}}}{M}</math> (4.5) Die Kinetische Energie kann nun als Summe der kinetischen Energien der Relativbewegung und der Bewegung des Schwerpunktes Betrachtet werden. :<math>T={{T}_{S}}+{{T}_{\operatorname{R}}}=\frac{1}{2}M{{\mathbf{\dot{R}}}^{2}}+\frac{1}{2}\mu {{\mathbf{\dot{r}}}^{2}}</math> (4.6) In Kugelkoordinaten ist berechnet sich das Betragsquadrat der Geschwindigkeit über: :<math>{{\mathbf{\dot{r}}}^{2}}={{\dot{r}}^{2}}+{{r}^{2}}{{\dot{\vartheta }}^{2}}+{{r}^{2}}{{\sin }^{2}}\vartheta {{\dot{\varphi }}^{2}}</math> (4.7) Als Potential nehmen wir ein Zentralpotential (etwa das Coulombpotential oder das Gravitationspotential) an, was sich proportional zu <math>\frac{1}{r}</math>verhält. :<math>V=-\frac{\alpha }{r}</math> (4.8) Die Lagrangefunktion lautet nun also: :<math>L\left( q,\dot{q},t \right)=\frac{1}{2}M\left( {{R}_{1}}^{2}+{{R}_{2}}^{2}+{{R}_{3}}^{2} \right)+\frac{1}{2}\mu \left( {{{\dot{r}}}^{2}}+{{r}^{2}}{{{\dot{\vartheta }}}^{2}}+{{r}^{2}}{{\sin }^{2}}\vartheta {{{\dot{\varphi }}}^{2}} \right)+\frac{\alpha }{r}</math> (4.9) Man erkennt sofort 4 zyklische Koordinaten (<math>\mathbf{R},\varphi </math>) das sind nach dem Noethertheorem 4 Erhaltungsgrößen. Leitet man die Lagrangefunktion nach den ersten dreien ab so erhält man 3 Erhaltungsgrößen die man als den Scherpunkts oder Impulssatz zusammenfassen kann: :<math>{{\partial }_{{\mathbf{\dot{R}}}}}L=M\mathbf{\dot{R}}=\mathbf{P}</math> (4.10) Die Ableitung nach der 4. Zyklischen Koordinate liefert die Drehimpulserhaltung. :<math>{{p}_{\varphi }}={{\partial }_{\varphi }}L=\mu {{r}^{2}}{{\sin }^{2}}\vartheta \dot{\varphi }={{L}_{z}}</math> (4.11) Da keine spezielle Orientierung des Relativkoordinatensystems vorausgesetzt war, können wir daraus die Drehimpulserhaltung für das gesamte Relativsystem folgern.
