Vortrag zum Franck-Hertz-Versuch Im Jahre 1914 bestätigten die beiden Physiker James Franck und Gustav Hertz das Bohr’sche Atommodell, das voraussagt, dass die Elektronen eines Atoms nur diskrete Energieniveaus annehmen können. Der im Praktikum durchgeführte Versuch besteht aus 2 Versuchsteilen: Zum einen die Messung der Ionisierungenergie eines Gases und zum 2. dem eigentlichen Franck Hertz Versuch. Auch schon damals war Vorgang der Ionisierung bekannt: Man ging davon aus, dass beim Zusammenstoß von Gasen mit Elektronen die weniger Energie erhaben, als für die Ionisierung notwendig ist, elastische Stöße stattfinden. Weiterhin wusste man, dass bei der Ionisierung das eintreffende Elektron die Ionisierungenergie als Impuls verliert. Als nächstes stellte sich die Frage welches Gas untersucht werden sollte: Der im Praktikum durchgeführte Versuch verwendete das Gas Quecksilber als Füllung der Frank-Hertz Röhre. Dieses hat vor und Nachteile. Vorteilhaft ist, dass Quecksilber die höchste Elektronenaffinität von den Gasen im Periodensystem hat. Es wird nämlich eine Energie von 0,6eV benötigt um ein Hg Anion herzustellen. (Bei vielen Stoffen wird sogar Energie frei bei der Anionenherstellung (bis zu 3eV) Dieser Effekt soll jedoch vermieden werden, da man sonst nicht feststellen kann ob die Ladung von Elektronen oder Anionen übertragen wird. Des Weiteren ist die konstante Dampfdichte vorteilhaft. Der große Nachteil bei der Verwendung von Quecksilber ist, dass Quecksilber bei Raumtemperatur flüssig ist. Und deshalb die Röhre auf nahe zu 200° erhitzt werden muss. Für die Anschaulichkeit ist es weiterhin unpraktisch, dass die Wellenlänge des ausgesandten Licht nicht (wie zum Beispiel bei Neon) im sichtbaren Bereich liegt. Es war bekannt, dass die Ionisierungsenergie, die Energie die benötigt wird um ein Elektron aus der äußersten Schale von Quecksilber zu entfernen bei 10eV lag. (Für Hg+ 18 und Hg2+ 33) Der Versuch ist wie folgt aufgebaut! Versuchsaufbau! Die Elektronen werden von der Kathode mit zunehmender Beschleunigungsspannung von K nach UG beschleunigt. Können so aber aufgrund der Polarität nicht bis zur Annode vordringen. Erst ab dem Zeitpunkt ab dem sie die Ionisierungsenergie haben entstehen positive Ladungsträger Quecksilberionen, die in diese Richtung beschleunigt werden können und wodurch ein Stromfluss festzustellen ist dieser steigt von dort aus exponentiell zur Spannung an. Im ersten Versuch, dem eigentlichen Franck- Hertz Versuch wird nun die quantenhafte Energieaufnahme (eigentlich müsste es Energieumwandlung in Lichtquanten) untersuch . Hier wird das Potential von der Annode um die Gegenspannung (1,5V) angehoben. Das bedeutet, dass die im Bereich von Gitter1 zu Gitter 2 beschleunigten Elektronen in diesem Bereich wieder abgebremst werden und nur die schnellsten Elektronen zur Annode gelangen und somit zum Annodenstrom beitragen. Zeichnung. Man erhält beim auftragen der Spannung gegen den Annodenstrom erhält man folgenden Graph. Graph Man sieht deutlich das in Abständen von 4,9V also bei Elektronenenergien von 4,9eV Extrema Vorliegen. Interpretiert man die Minima als die Stellen, an denen die Elektronen die Quecksilberatome inelastisch Stoßen und somit Innere Energie erzeugen. So erwartet man folgenden Graph: Graph. Nach folgender Formel berechnet sich die ausgesandte Wellenlänge: Formel Man sieht für Neon. Die Abweichungen zwischen theoretischem und tatsächlichem Graph sind aufgrund von statistischer Verteilung (Bewegungsenergie des Gases also der Temperatur)Kleinere Temperatur stärkere Grüne Steigung Minima weiter von 0 entfernt.
