====Mathematisches Problem:==== Ausgehend von einer Funktion :<math>y=f(x)</math> wobei <math>f(x)\cong L,x\cong {{\dot{q}}_{k}}</math> Soll statt x die Variable :<math>u=\frac{d}{dx}f(x)</math> verwendet werden. Also die Steigung von f(x) am Punkt x. Das bedeutet, wir wollen eine Funktion, die nicht von bestimmten Koordinaten x abhängt sondern nur von der Steigung der Funktion selbst, die sie in Abhängigkeit von x an diesen Stellen hätte. :<math>u=\frac{d}{dx}f(x)\Rightarrow x=\phi (u)</math> Mit der Voraussetzung :<math>\frac{{{d}^{2}}}{d{{x}^{2}}}f(x)\ne 0</math> Ansonsten: :<math>u=\frac{d}{dx}f(x)=const.</math> und damit nicht umkehrbar. Die Substitution in f führt dann auf: :<math>y=f(x)=f(\phi (u)):=F(u)</math> Bei dieser Trafo geht jedoch Information verloren. Das heißt: Aus :<math>y=F(u)</math> ist <math>y=f(x)</math> nicht mehr eindeutig rekonstruierbar, weil alle Funktionen :<math>y=f(x)+a</math> mit beliebigem, konstanten a wegen :<math>u=\frac{d}{dx}y=\frac{d}{dx}(f(x)+a)=\frac{df}{dx}</math> dann auf die selbe Funktion :<math>y=F(u)</math> führen: Alle Funktionen, die die gleiche Steigung u bei x haben, führen auf das selbe F(u). :<math>y=F(u)</math> ist also nicht umkehrbar. Auf das selbe F(u) führt jeweils die gesamte lineare Kurvenschar aller Funktionen f(x) zzgl. eines konstanten Parameters. deshalb wird die Legendre- Transformation, eine andere, umkehrbare, Transformation, eingeführt: :<math>\begin{align} & x\to u \\ & y\to z=xu-f(x)=\phi (u)u-f(\phi (u))=g(u) \\ \end{align}</math> Statt der gerade genannten einfachen Variante :<math>y=f(\phi (u))</math> Die Trafo :<math>y(x)\to g(u)</math> heißt LEGENDRE- TRANSFORMATION Graphische Veranschaulichung von :<math>g(u)=x\frac{df}{dx}-f(x)</math> : Das bedeutet: Die ursprüngliche Funktion y=f(x) wird nach der Trafo x→ u durch die Steigung u von f(x) und den (negativen) Achsenabschnitt charakterisiert. Da der Achsenabschnitt mit berücksichtigt ist, wird nicht mehr die gesamte Kurvenschar auf die gleiche g(u) abgebildet. Die Abbildung ist bijektiv und damit eindeutig. Die Werte (u,-z) bestimmen die Schar der Einhüllenden von y=f(x): Man spricht deshalb von einer Legendre - oder auch Berührungstransformation.
